Upper Colorado Regional Flood Planning Group
Overview
The regional flood planning effort for the Upper Colorado Basin (Region 9) is led by the Texas Water Development Board along with its regional sponsor, the City of San Angelo, technical consultant team and appointed members of the Region 9–Upper Colorado Regional Flood Planning Group.
The Region 9–Upper Colorado RFPG is currently going through the second cycle of the state flood planning process and needs your input to make sure flood-related concerns, and challenges and goals are accurately captured for your community.
Flood Mitigation Projects (FMP), Flood Management Strategies (FMS) and Flood Management Evaluations (FME) must be included in the Regional Flood Plan for a county/community to be eligible to apply for future TWDB funding.
- Identify current and future flood risk.
- Identify potential solutions to protect against loss of life and property from flooding.
Upcoming Meetings
The Region 9–Upper Colorado Regional Flood Planning Group meets both virtually and in-person typically on the fourth Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Upcoming meeting information will be posted in advance to comply with the Open Meetings Act.

Important project task/information requests and opportunities for the public to participate in the regional flood planning process are highlighted below.

Review of the draft existing condition floodplains are available for public review; please submit your review comments to FloodRegion9@hdrinc.com.

Region 9 RFPG currently has four interest group vacancies they need to fill: Small Business, Public, Electric Generating Utilities, and Flood Districts. If interested, please contact Allison Strube (RFPG Chair) at (432) 267-6341 or astrube@crmwd.org;
- Eligibility: candidate must adequately represent the interest category for which a member is sought; be willing to participate in the regional flood planning process; attend monthly meetings (as needed); direct the work of the technical consultant; and, abide by the Region 9 RFPG Bylaws.
